Lady Indians finished 6th overall on Saturday at Tendick Park. Freshman Megan Paule was our top finisher amongst the freshmen and 7th overall with a time of 15:20. With Paule’s times she has qualified for the State Tournament held at the Ridges in Wisconsin Rapids this up and coming Saturday at 12:20pm. Come out and cheer her on!
The Lady Indians had three runners in the top thirty …joining Paule was freshman Hannah Nelson (16:29) 28th place and junior Co Captain Jamie Ertl (16:36) — her personal best of 2011— finishing in 30th place.
Fantastic day to run with ideal conditions…….. as a coach I’ve always dreaded Sectionals, but this year we kept talking about “something good is going to happen” at Sectionals this year and it did.
We have a long way to go but this is a very big step for our program. I am going to enjoy today and attempt to get all the necessary paperwork done for this weekend and feel very privileged to make the trip to the Ridges come Saturday.
Anna Smalley 17:15, Cassie Visintainer 17:29, Juliette Schefelker 17:33 and fellow freshman Kelly Berglund 18:39 completed the times for the Lady Indians.

Menomonee Falls Ladies finished 5th in the Greater Metro Conference Saturday at Mitchell Park in Brookfield on Saturday. Megan Paule finished 2nd overall with a 15:27 to lead the Lady Indians to their best finish in almost 10 years. Another freshman, Hannah Nelson, finished 14th with a 16:15 and finishes this year as a 2nd team All Conference. With Paule placing 2nd she became the top freshman and All Conference and is gearing up for a run at State. But first will be Sectionals next Saturday at Tendick Park in Saukville. Strong finish by Anna Smalley (30th place) 16:47, Jamie Ertl (34th place) 16:58, and Juliette Schefelker (49th) 17:38 rounded out the scoring for the Lady Indians.
Paule showed some real grit by going after the eventual winner Flatley for about a mile …with the windy conditions the way they were I couldn’t be more impressed with Megan….. Fantastic! I felt Hannah ran her best race of the year…and Anna really gutted it out the entire race….. I raised the bar for Anna and she really came through today … I hope that she is not upset with her finish because she really did well today.

Freshman Megan Paule paced the Lady Indians with a second place overall finish on Saturday at Muskego with a 15:13. Paule had a blistering 3:00 for her last 1/2 mile to overcome the eventual 3rd place Brittney Feivor from Kenosha Tremper. Those two have had great runs so far in Megan’s career: first at Hadller when Megan held her off, and today at Muskego where Megan really gutted out to pass her with about 20 meters in the race.
Elizabeth Flatley from Brookfield Central was first with a 14:17 to set a new course record and pace Central to a first place finish.
Again we were without three of our top runners and I was generally pleased with Hannah Nelson who finished 32nd with a 16:30 and Captain Cassie Visintainer a 16:40 . Hannah has been really sick for a week and muscled through the entire race. Cassie just gutted for a personal best.
Freshman Juliette Schefelker finished in the top 50 at 17:03 for her personal best and freshman Kelly Berglund also had a personal best of 18:38 to round out the scoring for the Indians.
We are really throwing Jacobs, Berglund and Schefelker into the frying pan and I know that they are gaining valuable lessons from running up in class. Megan has had the pan out four times and she has found a nugget all four times—truly remarkable for a freshman and the compedtition that she has been running with. Juliette has been knicked up with hip and knee problems as well but was real impressive again today. We expect better times for Juliette by the end of this month.
The Lady Indians finished 8th out of a field of 15 teams and garnished 207 points. Next up Fondy on Friday night

Co-Captain Jamie Ertl finished in 15th place at 17:05 to medal in the Waukesha South Invite on Saturday. ”We had many scheduling difficulties this weekend and we did not have 7 of our runners due to many situations….. Freshman Juliette Schefelker finished with a personal best of 17:21 and seems to be on the road to success! Co-Captain Cassie Vissintainer finished at 17:38 and rounded out the top three finishers for the Lady Indians. The Menomonee Falls Ladies finished 8th place and will now prepare for the Muskego Invite on Saturday.
